Meet Our Staff
Debra Conrad, Artistic Director - Professional dancer, teacher, and choreographer for more than 30 years, Debra received her BS in Human Resources Management from Palm Beach Atlantic University graduating Cum Laude. Under the tutelage of Marie Hale, Debra received her initial dance training from Ballet Florida where she was awarded a full scholarship. Teachers and choreographers Debra has worked with include Michael Maule, Dennis Wayne, Ben Stevenson, Robert Davis, Kenn Scalice, Jill Bushling of New York City Ballet, Carol Bryan of American Ballet Theater, Donna Cowan and Denise Jackson of Joffrey Ballet, Lou Conte of Hubbard Street Dance Theater in Chicago, and Gus Giordano in Chicago, Choo San Goh of Washington, Finis Jung, Charles Kelly, Maria Vegh, Luigi, Frances Roach, and David Howard all of New York City.
Debra developed and implemented an award winning magnet dance program for the North Central Center for the Expressive Arts in the Dade County School system and coordinated a free pre-ballet program for underprivileged four and five year old inner city students for the Dade County School system. Debra also owned and managed Terpsicore Dance studio and Miami Avenue Dance studio in Dade County.
Debra performed professionally in many ballets including Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker, Les Sylphides, Coppelia, Les Partineurs, Raymonda, Swan Lake, Giselle, and Cinderella. Choreography credits include Damn Yankees, Annie Get Your Gun, Jesus Christ Superstar, Oklahoma, Godspell, and Little Shop of Horrors. Since founding Jupiter Dance Academy, Debra has created, directed and produced original full length ballets including Neverland, The Curious Adventures of Alice, In My Life, Faerie Magick and Mischief, Ballet de Vieux Carre’, The Twelve Dancing Princesses, Pavana of Dreams, Myths & Legends, The Princess and the Pea, Tales of the Constellations, Babes in Toyland, Oz, and Reflections of Faeries. Debra’s choreography has attained the highest awards at regional and national level dance competitions.

Kelly Zeltmann – Kelly began her dance training under the tutelage of Artistic Director, Debra Conrad. Kelly’s principal roles include Wendy in Never Land, The Mystic in The Twelve Dancing Princesses; she danced the lead in the national award winning Imagine, and was featured as The Jabberwocky in The Curious Adventures of Alice. Kelly received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences and Biotechnology graduating Summa Cum Laude from Florida Atlantic University. Kelly is a high school mathematics teacher. Kelly’s genius, artistic flair, and dedication to perfection define her as a gifted teacher and choreographer.

Alexandra Safran – Alexandra has trained at Palm Beach Ballet Center, received an AA Degree in Liberal Arts at Palm Beach Community College, and a BA in Drama Studies at Purchase College New York. She has received extensive training in ballet, jazz, modern, swing, waltz and Flamenco. She also studied acting, stage combat, and ballet with Florida Atlantic University and works as a professional fashion model. Alexandra has been the featured dancer and performer in numerous productions such as Dances We Dance, A Broken Heart, Bye Bye Birdie and more.

Samantha Musso – A student with Jupiter Dance Academy and a member of the acclaimed Jupiter Dance Academy Performance Company until high school graduation, Samantha is a delightful addition to the JDA staff. Samantha also teaches the outreach programs. Samantha is currently pursuing her college degree.

Yael Lawrence is a Board Certified Dance/Movement Therapist and received her Master of Science in Dance/Movement Therapy from The Pratt Institute in New York. Yael has worked in educational, mental health, spiritual and dance settings, with individuals of all ages & abilities ranging from infancy through adulthood including children with special needs. She has recently started the only Special Needs Dance Class in Jupiter, Florida, which is thriving! Additionally, Yael is the Programming Coordinator for The Family Center at Temple Beth Am in Jupiter, Florida where she organizes and implements social and educational programming for families with young children. She is also a certified Yoga & Music Together Instructor. Yael currently offers private Dance/Movement Therapy and a variety of Mommy & Me, Yoga, Dance, Music & Creative Movement and Mentoring classes throughout Palm Beach County.
Jazz, Lyrical, Musical Theatre, Acro
Denise McClymont - Denise returns to teach at Jupiter Dance Academy with more than twenty years of experience. A native of Palm Beach County, she trained under Jill Harrison and has performed nationally and internationally. Her students have been honored with regional and national titles, high scores and special awards. Many of her students have continued working as professional dancers and have become teachers themselves. Denise has been recognized for her fresh, unique style and approach to dance. Her training and technical expertise are reflected in her classes and choreography.
Larry Albright - Larry has been teaching and performing his style of hip hop for 7 years now in shows and other venues throughout New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Florida. He has performed as part of the opening act for artists such as PitBull, Ricky Martin, Nelly, Common, Lil’ Mo and Fabolous. He has choreographed for and performed with many dance companies on a elementary, collegiate, and professional level. Some of these include RPM on MTV’s My Super Sweet 16, Like Clockwork (NJ), PFUNK (NY), Sean’s Dance Factory (FL), Infinite DS (NY), Next Level (NY), Rutgers University Dance Team (NJ), Northwood University (FL), and the FIU Golden Dazzlers (FL). His teaching experience is extensive having taught at many dance studios and conducted master classes for many conventions including Dance Masters of America (FL), Streetstylz (FL), Pick the Starz International (Can), Broadway Bound Dance intensive (NY), and the winter dance festival at the Florida School of the Arts.

Lisa Powell has been instructing dance for 20 years. Her training includes the Royal Academy of Dancing Ballet Syllabus in which she received distinction on her exams. She frequently attended classes at Steps and Broadway Dance Center in NYC. During her competitive years she was awarded Miss I Love Dance and U.S.T.D. titles. Lisa's teaching career began with her attending the Dance Educators of America Teacher Training Program. Her students have won national awards and received scholarships to attend intensives and universities. Prior to moving to Florida, she had been a New York State Fair talent showcase judge for several years and was a performing member in the professional Syracuse Contemporary Dance Company.

Lindsay Salcedo from Palm City, FL has studied ballet, modern, tap, jazz and contemporary artistry. After graduating from Palm Beach Ballet Center under the direction of Joan Miller she moved to NYC to further her dancing with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. She has won numerous awards, including the Triple Threat Winner with New York City Dance Alliance and for the past five years traveled the world dancing for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. Her most recent accomplishment is receiving her 200 HR RYT, Yoga Teacher Certification.
Modern, Adult/Open Ballet
Julie Pingel started dance at the age of 4 under Marjorie Randazzo in the Checchetti Method, has a BFA in Dance from SUNY Purchase, a certificate in Vagonava and has completed Ruth Petrenovich's Teacher's Training Course. She taught at STEPS in NYC, Broadway Dance Center, and New Jersey School of Ballet. Julie previously owned a dance studio in Florida and been an instructor at Ballet Florida and Palm Beach Ballet Center among others. She performed in NYC with regional ballet companies, Joe Lantern's First Run Productions and in Moscow, Russia as a soloist. She teaches pre ballet through Advanced Ballet...including Adults. She also teaches Pointe, Jazz, Modern & Musical Theater. Very Happy to Be Teaching at Jupiter Dance Academy for 4years.

Amy Hamel has spent her life in the arts. Originally from Florida where she trained as a classical ballerina with Ballet Florida (David Howard and Marie Hale) and received her BA in Theatre Arts from Palm Beach Atlantic University, she moved on to tour with the IV National Tour of Cats as “Demeter” and then had the honor or receiving four different contracts with the Broadway company of Cats, until the show’s historic closing where she played the role of “Tantomile”. Amy has performed in many regional theatres as an actress, singer, dancer, and choreographer in NY, NJ, FL, and NC. She has also been a member of the Demetrius Klein Modern Dance Company and lead singer and dance captain for Norwegian Cruise Lines. After spending 15 years in New York teaching dance and performing, Amy graduated with her MFA in Acting from the University of North Carolina of Greensboro.
Brittany Smoliak is a former theatre teacher at Bak Middle school of the Arts and Dreyfoos School of the Arts. Brittany currently heads the Theatre Department at Oxbridge Academy.
